Pre-School:

Introduction to notes in the C scale, starting from C4 and moving up to C5. We will be exploring the notes both as they are written on the staff and what they sound like. We will discuss higher and lower pitches, as well as explore different genres by learning and singing different types of songs. We will also review the aspects of rhythm that we discussed previously.

The next upcoming event for the Pre-School is Grandparent’s Day in May/June. The students will be introduced to the music for that starting in February or March.

Music Class

Transitional Kindergarten:

We will also review the aspects of rhythm that we discussed previously.

The next upcoming event for the Transitional Kindergarten is Grandparent’s Day and the Musicals in May/June. The students will be introduced to the music and lines for that starting in February or March.

We will continue to do warm ups at the beginning of class, and will be introduced to more difficult ones as well. 

 

Kindergarten:

First Grade:

We will also review the aspects of rhythm that we discussed earlier in the year. 

The next upcoming event for the First Grade is Grandparent’s Day and the Musicals in May/June. The students will be introduced to the music and be given a script for that starting in February or March.

We will continue to do warm ups at the beginning of class, and will be introduced to more difficult ones as well. 

Second Grade:

Introduction to notes in the C scale, starting from C4 and moving up to C5. We will be exploring the notes both as they are written on the staff and what they sound like. We will discuss higher and lower pitches, as well as explore different genres by learning and singing different types of songs. We will review the concept of intervals that were introduced last year. We will also review the aspects of rhythm that we discussed earlier in the year. 

The next upcoming event for the Second is Grandparent’s Day and the Musicals in May/June. The students will be introduced to the music and be given a script for that starting in February or March.

Third Grade:

Review of the notes on the “D” and “A” string, introduction to the notes on the “G” string. Music reading will continue to be a necessity. 

Bows will be used for the entire time during this time. Violins need to be brought to every class unless otherwise notes.  

The next upcoming event for Third Grade is the Instrumental concert in March, and Grandparent’s Day in May. The music for the instrumental concerts will be passed out in late January. Grandparent’s Day will be introduced in February. 

 

Fourth Grade:

Continued learning chords on the ukulele. Instruments need to be brought to every class unless otherwise notes. 

Students will be learning strumming patterns that include eighth notes and dotted rhythm patterns. 

Learning basic chord progressions.

Students will be encouraged to learn to sing and play the ukulele at the same time.

Students will have the Instrumental Concert in March and Grandparent’s Day in May. Music for the instrumental concert will be passed out in late January. Music for Grandparent’s Day will be introduced in February. 

Fifth Grade:

Continued learning chords on the guitar. Instruments need to be brought to every class unless otherwise noted or if they are left in the classroom. 

Students will be learning strumming patterns that include eight notes and dotted rhythm patterns. 

Learning basic guitar chords: A minor, E minor, and D minor. 

Students will be encouraged to learn to sing and play the guitar at the same time.

Students will have the Instrumental Concert in March and Grandparent’s Day in May. Music for the instrumental concert will be passed out in late January. Music for Grandparent’s Day will be introduced in February
