Technology

Oakridge Private School’s technology program incorporates cross-curricular lessons that are collaboratively designed by technology instructors and classroom teachers, seamlessly integrating technology into all areas of the curriculum. In recognition of the digital world in which we live, media literacy is emphasized across all grade levels.

Students in Transitional Kindergarten through eighth grade use iPads as part of daily instruction and develop proficiency with Google Drive through both the computer lab and classroom devices. Google Drive is regularly utilized for reports, quizzes, and presentations, helping students build essential digital skills for academic success.

Oakridge Private School has two computer labs—one for elementary students and one for middle school students. Transitional Kindergarten through fourth-grade students attend computer classes twice a week in the elementary lab. Transitional Kindergarten and kindergarten students begin developing typing skills and use drawing programs to master keyboard and mouse functions. First-grade students type their weekly spelling words to strengthen keyboarding skills, while second through fourth-grade students begin using the internet to research various topics while continuing to build keyboard proficiency.

The fifth through eighth-grade program is designed to provide students with strong application and research skills that support and align with other academic disciplines. Students also gain proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Eighth-grade students use an online yearbook program provided by Jostens, giving them the opportunity to participate as part of the yearbook staff and prepare for similar experiences in high school.
