Oakridge fosters a nurturing environment that builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning through a comprehensive, standards-aligned academic program, with students engaging in accelerated instruction that is typically one grade level ahead. The reading curriculum begins with a phonics-based approach, using the McGraw-Hill Wonders program to develop fluency, expression, comprehension, and vocabulary through systematic, research-based instruction. Students cultivate an appreciation for literature through exposure to short stories, poetry, and novels, enhanced by the Accelerated Reader program. The language program emphasizes strong communication skills, including spelling, grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, paragraph development, and penmanship. These skills are reinforced through the Step Up to Writing program.

In mathematics, Oakridge offers an accelerated, standards-aligned curriculum in which students engage with content typically taught one grade level ahead. Students in JK–2nd grade build foundational skills using the HMH Into Math program, which emphasizes concept development through hands-on, exploratory learning. In 3rd and 4th grade, instruction shifts toward strengthening core skills and problem-solving strategies that prepare students for the transition to middle school math. Across all grade levels, students gain proficiency through concept development and hands-on application, building a solid understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, algebraic expression, and geometry.

Scientific inquiry and exploration are at the heart of Oakridge’s standards-aligned science program. Through the study of Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science, students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate real-world phenomena, and discover answers through hands-on activities. This inquiry-based approach is supported by Mystery Science, which brings each lesson to life through engaging questions and interactive exploration.

History and social studies instruction is grounded in a standards-aligned curriculum that helps students become informed, responsible citizens by exploring the people, places, and events that have shaped our world. Younger students focus on community leaders and the qualities of good citizenship, while 3rd grade explores westward expansion through the study of pioneers and the Oregon Trail, and 4th grade dives into California history.
