Oakridge fosters a nurturing environment that builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning through a comprehensive academic program. The reading curriculum begins with a phonics-based approach that develops fluency, expression, comprehension, and vocabulary. Students cultivate an appreciation for literature through exposure to short stories, poetry, and novels, enhanced by the Accelerated Reader program.

The language program emphasizes strong communication skills, including spelling, grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, paragraph development, and penmanship. These skills are reinforced through the Step Up to Writing program.
